After seven years of screening thousands of plant species with Washington-based premier plant research laboratory UNIGEN, 4Life announced the discovery of transfer factors in the Brassica napus seed. The company’s name for plant-based transfer factors is PhytoFactor™. This patent-pending discovery effort will result in an additional USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) patent for the company.
UNIGEN and 4Life’s Research and Development team published two articles in international scientific journals to substantiate their research: one in Molecules (“Discovery of Transfer Factors in Plant-Derived Proteins and an In Vitro Assessment of Their Immunological Activities”) and the other in International Journal of Applied Sciences (“Transfer Factors from Animal and Plant-Based Sources: A Proteomics Comparison”).
Transfer Factor MAX includes 300 milligrams of PhytoFactor, 600 milligrams of 4Life Transfer Factor® Tri-Factor® Formula, a clinical dose of IP-6 (innositol hexaphosphate), a mushroom blend, vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc.
Chief Scientific Officer Dr. David Vollmer: “Our formula for Transfer Factor Max represents an historic advancement for the composition of immune system supplementation.”
Three gold standard clinical studies substantiate the structure/function claims of 4Life Transfer Factor MAX. One identified the natural production of millions of immune stem cells. The second tracked how the product affected the activity of a type of immune cell called neutrophils. The third identified immune system activation in as little as two hours. (None of these findings or claims have been reviewed or endorsed by the FDA or any international ministry of health. 4Life products are wellness products. No 4Life product intends to treat, mitigate, or otherwise address any disease or illness.)
In addition to securing more than 80 patents (including a provisional patent for MAX), 4Life boasts more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, third-party studies, and in-house white papers. Senior Vice President of Research and Development Dr. Vaughan: “What distinguishes Transfer Factor Max specifically and 4Life products in general from other nutraceuticals? Pharma-grade clinical research.”
4Life has received three primary recognitions throughout the process of research and discovery that led to the identification of PhytoFactor. In 2024, 4Life won the World Plant-Based Protein Innovation Award. 4Life then received the Globee award for Most Innovative Company of 2025. Most recently, the Global 100 named 4Life Best Plant-Based Immune System Nutraceutical Manufacturer of 2026.
In 1998, Founder and Chairman of the Board David Lisonbee named the company 4Life Research, cementing science as one of the company’s core values. Today, the organization is known simply as 4Life, but Lisonbee’s original commitment to scientific inquiry continues.
4Life, The Immune System Company®, and the first to bring transfer factor research to market, has offices in dozens of countries to serve the company’s worldwide customers
